Shakira is a Registered Mental Health Counselor Intern in the State of Florida. She earned a Master of Arts degree in Clinical Mental Health Counseling and a Bachelor of Arts in Psychology. Shakira has experience with crisis intervention, depression, anxiety, anger management, grief, feeding and eating disorders, and LGBTQ community. She is a current member of the American Counseling Association.
Shakira works with adolescents and adults using existential therapy. She empowers clients to take an active role in treatment and be proactive in recovery beyond therapy sessions. Clients have the opportunity to lead the direction of therapy. Shakira offers a humanistic, holistic approach that emphasizes helping clients recognize and examine past events and choices as tools to find meaning and freedom in the present. Shakira guides clients to building self-awareness, acceptance, and motivation to create a purposeful life.
