Nathan Wharton is a Licensed Mental Health Counselor in the State of Florida. Nathan earned a Master’s degree in Mental Health Counseling from Springfield College. Over the past several years, Nathan has been helping families dealing with mental health issues and addiction by conducting home based counseling sessions to help manage and build a strong foundation and support system for adults, children and adolescents.
As an experienced clinician, Nathan uses a variety of treatment techniques in counseling sessions depending on the needs of the individual client. Among the approaches he employs are: Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, Person-Centered and Solution-Focused therapies, as well as Existential and Internal Family Systems approaches.
Nathan sees patients dealing with issues such as bipolar disorder, depression, anxiety, trauma, and grief. Nathan believes in empowering each client to overcome obstacles to achieve fulfillment and happiness. He believes each individual has the ability to find within themselves the motivation to achieve success . Nathan views therapy as a collaborative, sharing experience and he seeks to help people feel comfortable, hopeful, and truly understood.
Additionally, Nathan has experience helping individuals with food addiction, binge eating and other eating disorders. Nathan is a food addict and binge eater in recovery with over two years of abstinence. Nathan believes that people who have an unhealthy relationship with food can learn to overcome the power food has over them.
Nathan has used Cognitive Behavior techniques to help clients identify self-defeating thoughts and behaviors which often drives addiction.
