Lindsey Stenborg is a Registered Marriage and Family Therapist Intern in the state of Florida. She earned her Masters of Science in Marriage and Family Therapy from Stetson University and a Bachelors of Arts from University of Central Florida. Lindsey is a certified Play Therapist currently working towards becoming a Registered Play Therapist, a nationally recognized accreditation. Lindsey is also a certified trauma therapist specializing in working with children, adolescents, and adults who experienced high level traumas such as sexual abuse.
Lindsey has spent the last three years working in a community counseling agency where she has had the opportunity to work with diverse populations, varied age groups, and various diagnosis. This has given her the chance to learn and grow as a therapist and the chance to increase skills and knowledge.
Lindsey specializes in working with children as young as two and their families. Lindsey believes in utilizing a systemic model by maintaining communication and contact with all parties of a client’s system including: primary care physician, case manager, Guardian ad Litem, attorneys, school counselors, and teachers. Parents are highly involved in the therapeutic process and are seen as the expert of their child. Lindsey believes play is the language for children and utilizes child centered and Adlerian to help promote growth for the child. Lindsey is also trained in Child Parent Relationship Therapy (CPRT) and enjoys empowering parents to learn therapeutic skills that they can use at home with their child.
